Construction
Construction is determined by the garment and its purpose. From traditional tailored overcoats to softer, more casual outerwear, structure and finishing are selected to suit the cloth and how the piece will be worn.
Fit
Body measurements, posture, and try-on garments are evaluated together, with additional consideration given to what will be worn underneath. Ease and proportion are adjusted to create the appropriate fit without unnecessary bulk.
Style
Length, lapels, collars, pockets, buttons, linings, and other styling choices are yours to make without added charges. We don’t nickel and dime for design decisions. Upcharges are reserved for additional handwork and construction.

Pricing varies by fabric, design, and construction. Because outerwear fabrics can vary significantly in cost, final pricing is determined by the cloth and specifications selected for your garment.
Outerwear has a practical job to do. It has to provide the right amount of warmth and protection for the conditions it will be worn in, while fitting comfortably over the clothing underneath. Those requirements influence nearly every decision we make.
Cloth is especially important. Weight, composition, weave, and durability determine not only how warm a coat will be, but how it hangs, moves, and responds to regular wear. A traditional wool overcoat intended for a Rochester winter requires a very different cloth than a lighter topcoat or a more casual piece intended for transitional weather.
Fit also has to account for what happens underneath the garment. An overcoat worn primarily over tailoring needs enough room for a jacket without becoming oversized when worn over a shirt or sweater.
